TeleGeography, citing Azerbaijan Business Center, notes that Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies is planning to distribute frequencies required for the provision of 3G services soon, with the aim of enabling operators to launch commercially by the end of 2009. The report states that the country's Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said all three of Azerbaijan's GSM operators - Azercell, Bakcell and Azerfon (Nar Mobile) - have already applied for a 3G license.
